Creamy Spicy Mushrooms. While fresh cream makes this dish rich, dried red chili flakes and cayenne pepper add the heat. To customise the spice level, add more or less chili flakes. The mushrooms are sautéed first and then added to the sauce alongside oregano, parsley, and chilies. To complete the cooking process, stir in cream, and simmer for about 2-3 minutes.
Creamy Spicy Mushrooms Recipe
Cook mushrooms – Even though button mushrooms are the simplest way to create this dish, choose your favorite, and then slice them into thick pieces. In the first step, season mushrooms with salt, and sauté in olive oil. As they cook, the mushrooms will release water and become tender. This will take about 10 minutes. Remove from pan and cook the base sauce of this dish.
Make creamy mushrooms – Start with melting butter in a pan. Butter adds immense flavor to this dish, however, you can use olive oil for a healthier option. Fry onions and garlic followed by the addition of sautéed mushrooms, oregano, parsley, chili flakes, and cayenne pepper. Toss to coat mushrooms with the spices and herbs. Finally, add cream to get that thick, rich texture. Simmer this for about 2-3 minutes. A generous sprinkle of chopped fresh parsley makes it aesthetic as well as flavorful.

Creamy Spicy Mushrooms
Tender pan fried mushrooms tossed in spiced creamy sauce!
Ingredients
- 1 tablespoon olive oil
- 250 g mushrooms, sliced
- 2 tablespoons butter
- 1 small onion, finely chopped
- 2 garlic cloves, minced
- 1 tablespoon dried oregano
- 1 tablespoon parsley
- 1 teaspoon dried red pepper (chili) flakes
- 1 teaspoon cayenne pepper
- 1/3 cup fresh cream
- Chopped parsley, to garnish
- Salt and pepper to taste
- Crusty bread, pasta, rice, or grilled meat, to serve
Instructions
- Place a frying pan or skillet over low heat.
- Add olive oil.
- When hot, add mushrooms. Season with salt.
- Sauté, stirring occasionally, for about 10 minutes or until they are are tender, release juices, and most of the juice cook away. Remove from pan. Set aside.
- Add butter to the pan over medium heat.
- When melted, add onions and garlic.
- Cook, stirring occasionally, for about 2-3 minutes or until the onions are soft and garlic is fragrant.
- Add mushrooms, dried oregano, parsley, red chili flakes, and cayenne pepper. Stir to combine. Season with salt and pepper.
- Sauté, stirring, for about 1 minute.
- Stir in cream. Simmer for about 2-3 minutes.
- Garnish with parsley.
Notes
- For cheesy mushrooms, add grated parmesan
- Make sure you use plenty of butter for flavor
