With this spiced burger recipe, you can create your favorites in your own kitchen without the addition of any nasties. The patties are inspired by traditional Indian cutlets featuring crumbed deep fried patties made with chicken, meat or veggies. The simple mayo is spiked with a little sriracha, and onions take the place of pickles in this recipe. Again, the onions are also specially curated to bring in the classic flavors of lachha pyaz that are crispy, tangy and absolutely delicious. How To Make Masala Burger

Make the patties - The patties used in this recipe are the classic Indian cutlets. They are so customisable, you can make it with veggies, tuna, chicken or meat. All you need to do is make patties, coat in breadcrumbs, and deep fry until golden. You can even make them ahead of time and freeze.

Prep onions - I highly recommend using lachha pyaz in this recipe, onion rings spiced with chat masala. However, you can opt for your favorite pickled onions. 

Assemble burgers - Start with adding plenty of spicy mayo to the bottom burger bun. Top with lettuce. Then goes the patty and plenty of spiced crispy onions. And finally the top burger bun.

Ingredients

Patties (choose one):

  • 4 Vegetable cutlets
  • 4 Tuna cutlets
  • 4 Chicken cutlets

Lachha pyaz (spiced onions):

  • Get the recipe

Garlic butter:

  • 3 tablespoons salted butter softened
  • 1 garlic clove minced
  • ½ teaspoon dried oregano

Burger:

  • 4 burger buns
  • ¼ cup mayonnaise spicy or regular
  • 4 romaine or cos lettuce leaves
  • A few coriander leaves optional

To serve:

  • French fries homemade or store bought

Instructions

Make patties:

  • Follow the recipe instructions to make the patties.

Lachha pyaz:

  • Follow recipe instructions to make spiced onions.

Garlic butter:

  • Combine together butter, garlic and dried oregano.

Toast burger buns:

  • Spread garlic butter on the cut side of the buns.
  • Place buns in a frying pan over stovetop.
  • Toast until crisp and golden.

Assemble burger:

  • Spread the toasted buns with spicy mayonnaise.
  • Top with bottom buns with lettuce, patties and spiced onions. Add coriander leaves if using.
  • Finish with the top burger bun.
  • Serve with French fries.

    delicious thank you. I'm not a fan of brioche buns - too sweet for me - so I substituted regular burger buns. Worked perfectly.
