Tomato Pasta Sauce Recipe Video

Hands up if you love pasta soaked in scrumptious sauce of tomatoes and garlic. I could see quite a few hands up in the air (including mine).

So what’s so special about this tomato pasta sauce?

Let’s see… First of all, it’s a very basic recipe. That means, you can customize it any way you want. You’ve endless options like adding meat, hiding veggies etc. Second, if you want a smooth texture, you can cook the sauce for longer time.

Basic Tomato Pasta Sauce | Marinara Sauce

A basic version of tomato pasta sauce.

Ingredients

  • 2 cans 400g diced tomatoes
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil
  • 1 onion roughly chopped
  • 4-5 garlic pods peeled and chopped
  • ¼ cup basil or parsley leaves roughly chopped
  • Salt to taste
  • 2-3 cups cooked pasta to serve

Instructions

  • Place a large frying pan over medium heat. Heat olive oil. Fry garlic until the raw smell disappears. Fry onion until soft. Add the tomatoes along with ½ cup of water, and bring the sauce to a boil. Simmer for 5-10 minutes. Add in the chopped basil or parsley, and leave it to simmer for few minutes. When done, season with salt and ground black pepper.
  • Serve with cooked pasta. Garnish with grated cheese just before serving.

Notes

If you are using fresh tomatoes, do not use the skin.
