This simple recipe proves you don’t need fancy ingredients to create a delicious meal. In fact, there are umpteen ways to cook minced meat, from simple stir fries to lasagne. If you love cooking with this simple ingredient, here’s a new way to cook them with a flavor boost from spices.

Keema aloo literally translates to minced meat and potatoes. Minced meat is stir fried with lots of spices giving it a beautiful dark brown color. The potatoes are added to the browned minced meat and cooked until tender and soft. You can add more or less potatoes to make a simple, satisfying side. I love the fact that they are perfect for weeknight dinners as well as for your next gathering.

Keema Aloo Recipe

Cook keema or minced meat - Ground meat, lamb, beef or chicken, is the key ingredient of this recipe. You’ll need to sauté the meat in spices before adding in the potatoes. To do this, start with frying the onions until golden followed by sauteing ginger, garlic and green chilies. The spices in this recipe include ground turmeric, ground coriander and red chili powder. When you get a nice aroma, add tomato paste and fry with the spices. Next, you’ll need to add the minced meat. Let it cook for about 10 minutes to get that beautiful brown color.

Add aloo or potatoes - Potatoes are a great addition to this keema recipe in terms of both flavor and texture. Cook them with the minced meat. Once tender, you can add garam masala, yogurt and plenty of coriander (cilantro) leaves. Give this a quick stir fry!
