Easy Ghee Cake Recipe Video

The good old classic tea cake requires only a few ingredients - flour, eggs, sugar and butter or oil. It’s the easiest way to whip up a treat to serve with your afternoon tea. A moist and delicious slice of cake can transform your teatime to a pure bliss.

In this ghee cake recipe, the major focal point is on ghee or clarified butter. Ghee is traditionally used in a lot of Indian recipes ranging from sweets to spicy curries. Unlike butter that’s high in saturated fat, it also has amazing health benefits.

How To Make Ghee Cake

Simply put, it’s a regular tea cake made with plenty of ghee instead of butter. Believe me, the aroma of this cake is out of this world.

To make this cake, start with whisking eggs and sugar. Make sure eggs are at room temperature and sugar dissolves completely to form a foamy texture. Add in ghee and vanilla extract, and whisk until everything is well combined.

Now, adding the dry ingredients for this ghee cake. Sift in all the dry ingredients including flour, baking powder and a pinch of salt. At this stage, you’ll need to fold in all the ingredients gently. Remember no overmixing.

And now your batter is ready to go into the preheated oven. Bake for about 40-45 minutes. The baking time may vary depending on the your oven. Make sure a skewer inserted into the center of the ghee cake comes out clean.

Once cooked, slice and serve with berries and whipped cream.

    5 stars
Absolutely gorgeous cake! i had a bunch of clarified butter leftover from a failed batch of browned butter, so i'm super happy i can use it for something other than frying.

unfortunately the metric conversion provided is still volumetric, so i am adding the gram conversion i made and used here:
    200g caster sugar
    105g ghee
    125g whole milk
    210g all purpose flour
    5g baking powder
