Spicy Marinara Sauce | Spicy Tomato Pasta Sauce

1 Comment Published May 15, 2024 Updated February 9, 2025

This spicy marinara sauce that’s very similar to classic arrabbiata sauce is an essential addition to your recipe repertoire. Tomatoes are simmered with extra virgin olive oil, onions, garlic, red chili flakes and basil to create lip-smacking pasta sauce that’s brimming with traditional Italian flavours with a spicy twist. We just love it!

Classic tomato based pasta sauce - Don’t you love it? Simple al dente pasta tossed with vibrant sauce tastes out of this world. Bring in some heat to this popular sauce, trust me, you are in for a treat.

Say hello to spicy marinara sauce, your go-to for a quick and easy pasta dinner. It doesn’t require any exotic ingredients, the recipe just relies on tomatoes, herbs, garlic and red chili flakes for the flavour. Canned tomatoes make prepping the sauce easier. To be exact, it’s delicious as an easy addition to everyday pasta, or as a base for meatballs and lasagna.

Spicy Marinara Sauce Recipe

Cook tomatoes - Here’s my number one tip to make the ultimate sauce, use extra virgin olive oil and fresh ingredients. Add onions, garlic, and red chili flakes to hot oil. Stir and cook until the onions are translucent and garlic is fragrant. To this, you’ll need to add the tomatoes. To save time, I highly recommend canned tomatoes in this recipe.

Cook and puree - Let this tomato mixture simmer for about 10 minutes. For the final touch, add some basil or parsley. You’ll need to puree the mixture with the help of a blender, immersion or regular.

  • To use fresh tomatoes in this recipe, boil and remove skin before adding to the mixture
  • Basil can be substituted with parsley if you like
  • If you are using regular blender, wait until the sauce cools down slightly.
