Whipping up weeknight dinner means quick and easy dishes. Whether it’s for everyday dinner or a small gathering, a simple rice dish not only impressive but also saves your time in the kitchen. Cooking rice is fussy free and never fails to impress everyone in the family.

Garlic turmeric rice. Flavored with lots of garlic, this rice dish is a ‘must’ addition to your recipe repertoire. The vibrant golden color comes from ground turmeric. A light touch of paprika, fresh lemon juice, and bell peppers (capsicum) add another layer of flavor and taste.

Garlic Turmeric Rice Recipe

Start with sauteing onions, vegetables and garlic in olive oil. Once the veggies turn soft and tender, add the ground spices including ground turmeric and paprika.

Now, add cooked rice. With rice, use your favorite - basmati, long grain or jasmine rice. Stir fry until the rice gets that beautiful golden color. Drizzle with freshly squeezed lemon juice. And that’s it! Fluffy, golden rice to add as a side for your next meal.

Ingredients

  • 1 tablespoon olive oil
  • 5 garlic cloves chopped
  • ½ cup chopped onions
  • ½ cup chopped bell peppers capsicum
  • 1 teaspoon ground turmeric
  • ½ teaspoon paprika
  • 4 cups cooked rice long grain or basmati rice
  • Juice of 1 small lemon
  • Chopped parsley leaves to garnish

Instructions

  • Heat olive oil in a wok or large frying pan over medium high heat.
  • Add garlic, onions and bell peppers (capsicum). Sauté, stirring, for about 3-4 minutes or until tender.
  • Add ground turmeric and paprika. Sauté, stirring, for a few seconds.
  • Season with salt and pepper.
  • Add cooked rice.
  • Drizzle with fresh lemon juice. Sauté, stirring, for about 2-3 minutes.
  • Garnish with chopped parsley.
