Pizza sandwich – A twist on classic pizza, these sandwiches are quick to make and highly customizable to add your favorite filling. Enjoy these for a light lunch or dinner!
Recently, I’ve been focusing more on simple recipes that can be made in a jiffy. Basically, it’s all about revisiting old, classic recipes and tweaking them to suit our modern lifestyle. You see, I’m talking about quick and easy recipes but with an interesting wow factor.
Now who doesn’t like pizza? So, how about your favorite pizza in the form of sandwich? Excited? To be honest, I was so thrilled to try out this new recipe. It’s one incredible sandwich that ticks all boxes. Quick, easy, simple, and very interesting, obviously!
Ok, now, get ready to meet my new favorite way to enjoy pizza – pizza sandwich. Your favorite pizza toppings in a sandwich grilled to perfection. How cool is that? I’m so into it. In fact, this is a quick way to enjoy pizza without bothering about making a pizza base.
I chose the ingredients my all-time favorite pepperoni pizza + some veggie goodness to fill this sandwich. The best part is you can customize this pizza sandwich the way you like. Make it into a veggie sandwich or add other meaty toppings. It’s up to you. Plus, add as much cheese as you like.
All sandwiches need some kind of carb. So pick up your favorite bread and you’re ready to assemble your sandwich. I decided to go the healthier way with some wholemeal bread slices.
Now, let’s think about the filling.
First, pizza sauce. To make a great pizza, I mean pizza sandwich, pizza sauce is mandatory. Since this recipe is all about quick and easy, I think store bought sauce is the perfect choice. I bought mini sachets of pizza sauce and used only one sachet to make these sandwiches. Pretty convenient! Plus, this pizza sauce is loaded with herbs, so I don’t even need to think about adding extra herbs in the sandwich. Spread sauce onto the slices, and it’s time to think about the other fillings.
Sliced onions + chopped bell pepper (capsicum) + pepperoni = delicious and interesting flavors. As I said, you can add your favorite fillings at this stage. Plus, the measurements given in the recipe below is just a guide. Add more or less amount of fillings depending on your appetite.
And never ever forget the cheese. I know you won’t. Pizza sandwich oozing with cheese tastes out of this world. Yum yum! Mozzarella is the best choice here, but you can also try cheddar. Again, add as much cheese as you like. Cool!
Now the final step of making this pizza sandwich. Grilling, obviously! You have two options here. Number one, use a sandwich maker. Number two, do it my way. I mean, grill sandwich on the stovetop. Well, this is my favorite way to grill sandwiches. Melt butter in a pan, and place the sandwiches, one at a time, in the pan. Toast it over a low fame. When both sides of the bread turns crispy with a beautiful golden color, you will know it’s time to dig in!
Enjoy!!!!!
