Step 1 - Make the BBQ marinade
Simply mix together BBQ sauce, ketchup (tomato sauce), sugar, paprika, soy sauce, Worcestershire sauce, vinegar, garlic powder, oil and salt to make the marinade. Remember that barbecue sauce often contains salt already. Keep this in mind when adding salt.
Step 2 - Prep and marinate chicken
For whole wings, separate them at joints, and discard the tips. Pat dry the wings really well to remove excess moisture. Toss the wings with the marinade. Make sure you reserve a little marinade to brush the chicken during cooking.
Step 3 - Bake the wings
Cook the wings in a preheated oven, until tender. Ideally, the BBQ glaze should become shiny and tacky, with a few caramelized patches around the edges.

Frequently Asked Questions About Sticky BBQ Wings
Can you make sticky BBQ wings in an air fryer?
Yes. Cook marinated wings at approximately 190-200ºC for 20-25 minutes, turning halfway through. Watch carefully to prevent the sauce from burning.
Why are my BBQ wings not sticky?
Your sauce may be too thin, or the wings may not have received enough heat to set the glaze. Avoid adding too much sauce at once, as this can leave the wings wet rather than glossy.
