Avocado grilled cheese sandwich. This sandwich is cheesy, buttery, packed with avocados and addictingly delicious. It’s loaded with all the flavors of your favorite avocado toast, but with garlic butter bread and lots of mozzarella. Perfect breakfast to start your day!
Truth to be told, avocado toast is one of my most favorite breakfast dishes on the planet. Fresh and flavorful, avocados are packed with nutritious goodness and they are absolutely tasty. If you love avocados, here’s another recipe to show your love for this creamy green fruit.
Avocado grilled cheese sandwich – combining two favorite recipes to create one epic sandwich. To be exact, this is a combination of garlic bread, grilled cheese and avocados. Do we really need another excuse to create this sandwich at home?
How To Make Avocado Grilled Cheese Sandwich
First, the garlic butter. Simply mix together softened butter, minced fresh garlic and parsley. Remember to use fresh garlic in this recipe for maximum flavor.
Next, avocado mash. Scoop out avocado flesh, mash them and season generously with salt and pepper. I also like to add a pinch of red chili flakes, however, this is totally optional.
With the bread, you can use your favorite sandwich bread. I opted for regular wholemeal sandwich bread. However, do not use any sweet bread.
Spread one side of the bread slices with garlic butter. Spread the other side of one bread with avocado mash. Add a generous amount of your favorite cheese. Top with another buttered bread.
Finally, toast. The garlicky buttery bread takes this sandwich to another level. Beyond delicious!

Ingredients
Garlic butter:
- 2 tablespoons unsalted butter, softened
- 1 teaspoon minced garlic (garlic paste)
- 1 teaspoon chopped parsley
Avocado mash:
- 2 large avocados, pitted and mashed
- 1/2 teaspoon red chili (red pepper) flakes
- Salt and pepper, to taste
Grilled cheese sandwich:
- 4 slices bread
- 4 tablespoons grated mozzarella or cheddar
Instructions
- To make garlic butter, combine together butter, garlic and parsley in a small bowl. Set aside.
- To make avocado mash, combine together mashed avocados and red chili flakes in a small bowl. Season with salt and pepper. Set aside.
- To make the sandwich, spread one side of each bread slice with garlic butter. Top the other side of two bread slices with avocado mash and cheese. Top with the remaining bread slices, buttered side up.
- Heat a large frying pan over medium-low heat. Place the sandwiches, one at a time, in the pan. When one side is brown and cheese has started to melt, flip and brown the other side.
- Slice and serve immediately.
