The festive season calls for foods that exclusively fall into the category of rich and decadent. Having said that, you don’t always need exotic ingredients to make a show stopper for your holiday table. A simple French toast can be turned into a beautiful brunch that’s delicious, heart warming and downright gorgeous.
Just incorporate the flavors of beautiful tiramisu into your favorite breakfast. Yes, I’m thinking tiramisu French toast. Amazingly delicious combo of French toast and tiramisu. Trust me, it’s out-of-this-world.
How To Make Tiramisu French Toast
First things first. Choose your favorite bread. Although regular white bread tastes amazing in this recipe, I have opted for the rich and buttery brioche bread. It adds more richness and flavor to this dish. The soft slightly sweet bread is just perfect for this recipe. You can also go with challah bread if you like.
To make the tiramisu French toast, start with whipping up the egg mixture. It’s just the basic French toast mixture with a lovely combination of eggs, cream, and vanilla extract . Now to add in the tiramisu flavors, you’ll need freshly brewed and cooled espresso, unsweetened cocoa powder and a hint of ground cinnamon. Perfect!
Feel free to sub espresso with a teaspoon of instant coffee powder if espresso powder is not easily available. Once the delicious egg mixture is ready, dip the bread in the mixture and let it soak for few seconds. As brioche slices are very soft and delicate, make sure you don’t soak them too long.
The soaked bread slices are then toasted in a pan with plenty of butter. One important thing – you don’t want to skimp on butter in this recipe, you will need plenty of butter to brown the bread slices on both sides.
Now the extra touch – mascarpone. Just combine together mascarpone and honey, and spread it on the toasted French toast. Yum! Dust with a generous amount of cocoa powder and you’re done.
What’s the ultimate delicious way to serve this tiramisu French toast? With a generous drizzle of chocolate sauce, of course.
