Puff pastry biscuits (khari biscuits). Summer, winter, it’s always a good time for these super simple biscuits made with puff pastry. Topped with crunchy almond flakes, it’s the right way to add a festive magic to your days. Definitely a chic crowd pleaser!
Creating a heavenly dish with one simple ingredient – isn’t that amazing? Well, that’s also part of having fun in the kitchen, right?
Introducing puff pastry biscuits or khari biscuits. To be exact, these are baked puff pastries with divine buttery flaky layers. Yum! I have added a simple twist to this classic recipe with a light sprinkle of crunchy almonds.
How To Make Puff Pastry Biscuits or Khari Biscuits
Although there are plenty of ways to make these flaky biscuits, I’m going to tell you all about the Indian version of this recipe. All you need are a few sheets of puff pastry to create these incredible pastries. And the toppings? Your imagination is your limit. Flaked almonds, chopped nuts, dried fruits – all make the perfect addition. And oh, after baking, you can drizzle it with your favorite chocolate or caramel sauce, toss in cinnamon sugar, or even top with some berries for the color.
To make these khari biscuits, first, prepare your puff pastry. If you are not using ready rolled pastry sheets, roll them out with a light sprinkle of flour. I like to cut each sheet into 9 rectangles. That said, you can cut them anyway you like – squares, rectangles, circles, stars etc.
You will also need to decide the number of layers you want. Just brush the layers with melted butter so they will stick together effortlessly. I have used flaked almonds as my topping in this puff pastry biscuits recipe. Feel free to experiment with your favorite toppings.
And finally, arrange them on a baking sheet and bake until flaky golden. Don’t forget to put the kettle on!
