Indian cucumber raita. With cooling yogurt and refreshing cucumber, this simple salad is an all-rounder that’s perfect with your favorite spiced meals. A pinch of ground cumin and an optional addition of chopped coriander leaves (cilantro) takes the flavor to next level. A staple accompaniment!

Why I Love This Cooling Salad
If you’ve ever wanted to whip up the perfect raita or Indian salad for your meals, chances are you already know about this refreshing accompaniment. The recipe follows the classic combination of cucumber and yogurt with a hint of ground cumin. Think, creamy yogurt salad.
Here’s the simplest way to make it: plain yogurt, chopped cucumber and a pinch of ground cumin in a bowl. Simply mix, and add in salt and pepper. Chopped herbs like coriander (cilantro) and mint or a light sprinkle of chat masala are optional. Want to be fancy? Toss in some red cherry tomatoes and red onions. A refreshing side that balances everything out!
Key Ingredients In Cucumber Raita

- Yogurt - The key cooling ingredient.
- Cucumbers - Refreshing ingredient that adds crunch and texture.
- Cumin - Grind to a fine powder.
- Coriander leaves (cilantro) - Optional.
How To Make Cucumber Raita
Gather ingredients - Use any yogurt you like, but Greek yogurt is my preferred choice. Chop cucumbers anyway you like - cubes, thin strands, circles. If you don’t have ground cumin, simply grind cumin seeds into a fine powder.
Mix and serve - Simply mix all the ingredients together, season, and you will get delicious raita.
