Apple momos with toffee sauce. Perfect for entertaining, these apple loaded dumplings feature a deliciously sweet take on the ever popular savory dumplings. When paired with warm toffee sauce, they create the ultimate flavor explosion in your mouth.
The well-known Indian street food, momos, are very similar to Chinese dumplings. It’s all about dumpling wrappers loaded with vegetarian or meat filling dipped in a special sauce called momo chutney for the ultimate flavor combo. Inspired by the savory momos, I decided to create a sweet version highlighting sweet apples. The best part? Toffee sauce. Incredibly delicious sauce to dip the momos.
These momos with toffee sauce – taste amazing
Think sweet apples combined with a little cinnamon wrapped in a delicate parcel. Dipped in sweet toffee sauce, the deliciousness factor is doubled.
Start with cooking apples in a little butter. Green apples or cooking apples are ideal in this recipe, just peel and chop them before adding to butter. For the perfect sweetness, I’ve added in some brown sugar. Ground cinnamon gives an amazingly delicious flavor to these apple momos.
Once this mixture is cooled completely, wrap them in dumpling wrappers either homemade or store bought. I decided to go the easy way and used store bought wrappers. And don’t forget to use your creative skills to shape these wrappers. And finally, steam the momos.
Now, the toffee sauce. Melt a little butter and combine together condensed milk, brown sugar, water and glucose syrup. The mixture needs to be thick with a pouring consistency. Stir in vanilla extract.
Dip apple momos in toffee sauce and enjoy every bite. For me, the keyword here is “generous “. And that means, a generous dipping of warm apple momos in warm toffee sauce. The best way to enjoy to these sweet momos.
