In my opinion, there’s no bad time of the year to whip up delicious smoothies. Be it a refreshing drink or a healthy start to the day, these tasty drinks are a must addition to your recipe repertoire. Let’s talk about the classic popular Indian style smoothie also known as lassi.
Healthy mango lassi. I can’t deny the fact that classic lassi loaded with thick yogurt, milk and sugar is utterly delicious. But how about incorporating a few healthy alternatives to make lassi that’s not only delicious but also good for you? Think fresh fruit, low fat or plant based dairy and honey substituting sugar – doesn’t that sound amazing?
Healthy Mango Lassi Recipe
Prep mangoes – I highly recommend using fresh ripe mangoes in this recipe. Choose your favorite sweet variety to add that natural sweetness to the smoothie. When mangoes are in season, chop mangoes and freeze them in a ziplock bag. That way, you can make mango smoothie anytime you want. However, you can also use frozen mangoes to make this lassi.
Make lassi – All you need to do is blend all the ingredients – mangoes, yogurt, milk and cardamom – to make a smooth purée. You can change the consistency of the smoothie by adding more or less milk. Substitute sugar with honey for a healthy sugar alternative. And make sure you serve it immediately.
