Kerala Prawns Fry

Ingredients

  • 500 g prawns cleaned and deveined
  • ½ teaspoon ground turmeric
  • 2 tablespoon chilly powder
  • ½ teaspoon ground coriander
  • ½ teaspoon garlic paste
  • ½ teaspoon ginger paste
  • ½ teaspoon ground black pepper
  • ½ teaspoon lemon juice
  • ½ of 1 medium onion sliced (optional)
  • 1 sprig of curry leaves optional
  • Oil for shallow frying the prawns

Instructions

  • Clean and devein the prawns. Place the cleaned prawns in a bowl.
  • Marinate them with ground turmeric, chilly powder, ground coriander, ginger paste, garlic paste, and ground black pepper. Keep it covered in the refrigerator for 10 – 15 minutes.
  • Heat oil in a frying pan, and arrange the prawns in a single layer.
  • Shallow fry prawns until done. Throw in the sliced onions and curry leaves just before removing it from heat (Skip this step if you don’t like onions and curry leaves in fried prawns).
  • Give a quick stir.
  • Voila! It’s ready! Moist and succulent fried prawns.
  • Serve hot with rice or chappathi.
