Ingredients

  • 1 head cauliflower cut into florets
  • ¾ cup all purpose flour plain flour
  • ¾ cup milk see notes
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1 teaspoon paprika
  • ½ cup breadcrumbs
  • cup hot sauce or buffalo sauce
  • 2 tablespoons vegetable oil
  • 2 tablespoons honey
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • Ranch dressing to serve

Instructions

  • Preheat oven to 230C / 450F. Line a baking tray with baking paper. Set aside.
  • Combine together flour, garlic powder and paprika in a medium bowl. Season with salt and pepper.
  • Whisk in milk to create thick smooth batter.
  • Add cauliflower florets. Toss to coat them in the batter.
  • Coat in breadcrumbs. Arrange the florets on the baking tray in a single layer. Bake for 25 minutes, flipping halfway through.
  • Meanwhile, combine together hot sauce or buffalo sauce, vegetable oil and honey in a small bowl.
  • Coat half baked cauliflower florets in the sauce, shaking off excess.
  • Place them on the baking tray in a single layer. Bake for another 20 minutes.
  • Serve with ranch dressing or your favorite dip.

Make this in air fryer:

  • Place the battered cauliflower florets in a single layer in the bottom of tour air fryer. Work in batches if needed. Fry at 200C or 400 F for 7-8 minutes, shaking halfway through cooking. When cauliflower is done, toss in the buffalo sauce and serve immediately.

Notes

  • For a vegan version of this recipe, substitute milk with plant based milk like almond milk. Don’t forget to choose your favorite vegan dip.
  • To make these wings gluten free, substitute all purpose (plain) flour with gluten free flour or chick pea flour.
  • You can also deep fry the cauliflower florets coated in batter, dip in sauce and then broil (grill) for 5 minutes
  • These vegetarian wings taste great as an appetizer and are best eaten fresh out of the oven
