This cajun infused samon alfredo adds a fresh dimension to a regular alfredo. Every mouthful of this pasta is loaded with flavor. Take your time to toss the salmon in cajun spices, fry them and stir into the creamy sauce of the pasta – you will definitely enjoy it to the last bite.
How To make Salmon Alfredo
Start with slicing the salmon into cubes. Toss them in cajun seasoning. You will need to cook the pasta separately before adding them to the sauce. Make sure salmon is cooked through. At this stage, you can also shred the fish if you like.
Now, we will make the basic alfredo sauce. Start with sauteing some onions and garlic in butter, and fry until soft and translucent. Stir in cream and sprinkle with oregano. Don’t forget to season with salt and pepper. Add some pasta water if needed. Let this mixture simmer for about 5-6 minutes. Add in a generous amount of grated parmesan and chopped parsley leaves. Give this a quick stir. Finally, add salmon and pasta. Toss.

Creamy salmon pasta spiked with cajun spices. Perfect weeknight meal!
Ingredients
- 350 g your favorite pasta
- 700 g salmon, boneless, cut into small cubes
- 1 tablespoon cajun seasoning
- 1 tablespoon oil
- 1 tablespoon butter
- ¾ cup chopped onions
- 2 garlic cloves, grated
- 2 cups thickened (heavy) cream
- 1 teaspoon dried oregano
- 2 cups grated parmesan
- 2 tablespoons chopped parsley
- Salt and pepper to taste
- Chopped parsley, to garnish
- Grated parmesan, to garnish
Instructions
- Cook pasta in a large saucepan of salted boiling water following packet directions. Drain. Set aside.
- Place salmon in a large bowl. Add cajun seasoning. Toss to coat. Season with salt. Set aside.
- Heat oil in a large frying pan over medium heat. Place salmon pieces in a single layer. Cook for 2 minutes on each side. Remove from pan. Set aside.
- Meanwhile heat butter in the same pan over medium-high heat.
- Add onions and garlic. Saute, stirring occasionally, for 2-3 minutes or until soft and translucent.
- Add cream and dried oregano. Season with salt and pepper. Stir to combine. Simmer for about 5-6 minutes.
- Add grated parmesan and parsley. Stir. Simmer for a minute.
- Stir in cooked pasta and salmon.
Notes
- Using a fork, you can flake or shred salmon if you like
- Reserve 1 cup of pasta water and add it to the creamy sauce if it’s too thick.
- You can add shrimp (prawns) to this pasta if you like
