Malai paneer tikka. Mildly flavored grilled paneer featuring creamy yogurt, fresh cream and spiced with garam masala. It grills to delicious perfection to enjoy as an appetizer for your next gathering.
Is there anything better than grilled skewers to welcome your guests the most delicious way? Without a doubt, grilled paneer or Indian style cottage cheese is a favorite and is the best option when you’re entertaining your vegetarian friends.
Paneer is super delicious in curries, snacks and these grilled skewers. If you’re a fan of this classic soft cheese, I’m pretty sure you’ll love spicy paneer tikka and hariyali (green) paneer tikka. And here’s another version of the traditional paneer tikka – malai paneer tikka.
Cubes of paneer marinated with yogurt, cream, ginger, garlic, garam masala, black pepper, dried fenugreek leaves and lemon juice. Trust me, this combo is beyond delicious. It’s such a simple recipe with mild flavors.
Basically, the marinade for this malai paneer tikka is based on a creamy mixture. The lusciously creamy texture and color of the marinade comes from fresh cream and yogurt. For extra flavor, you’ll also need to add garlic, ginger, garam masala, ground black pepper, dried fenugreek leaves and a touch of lemon juice.
When adding garam masala and black pepper, make sure the color of the marinade doesn’t change. To be exact, a touch of masala is more than enough to make this paneer tikka incredibly flavorful.
I like to thread them onto skewers along with red onions. The light purple shade of the onions add a lovely contrast to the white paneer cubes. Diced green or red bell peppers (capsicums) are also great options.
Finally, grill them to perfection. Yummo!
