Indian lassi (yogurt drink) – One of the most refreshing classic Indian smoothies to beat the summer heat. This easy to make drink is loaded with nutritious yogurt, mint leaves and your choice of sweetener. With yogurt as the base, here are two super easy ways to make this delicious smoothie.
This yogurt drink has summer written all over it. Obviously, a delicious smoothie is the best way to chill out on a hot day. Now who doesn’t love smoothies?
As you know, lassi is an Indian style yogurt based drink originated in Punjab but popular all across India. This simple lassi is now available in so many variations including this mango lassi and this grape lassi. But for now, let’s talk about the two classic favorites of this recipe – sweet and salted.
The best part is that it’s so easy to whip up a glass of delicious lassi in a minute. You just need a couple of ingredients, and a blender to mix yogurt with your favorite flavor.
Ok, the sweet lassi is basically a simple combo of yogurt and your choice of sweetener. Although sugar is the popular sweetener used in a traditional lassi, I also like the taste of honey that provides a healthier alternative to refined sugar. And it’s totally my favorite.
Salted lassi, as the name suggests, is the savory variation of sweet lassi. We’ll flavor the drink with salt and few mint leaves. Mint leaves add a refreshing touch to the lassi. Sprinkle extra deliciousness with a little ground cumin. If you’re not a fan of cumin, chat masala is also a hot favorite.
To level up the chill factor, it’s a good idea to add ice cubes to the smoothie. You can either blend them along with yogurt or add them to the glass.
Well, you don’t even need a recipe to make this lassi. So what are you waiting for?
