Again, this recipe for simple tortillas is totally vegan making them the perfect base for your plant based fillings. Ok, let’s turn a few basic ingredients into beautifully soft tortillas.
The first step in making this homemade flour tortilla is bringing together flour, baking powder and oil. Don’t forget to season the dough with a pinch of salt. To make these tortillas as soft as possible, I’m going to add hot water to the mixture.
Make sure the water is hot but not boiling. Using a spoon, bring all the ingredients together, and knead into a soft dough. Divide it into 8 small or 10 large tortillas. Roll into balls and cover with a damp tea towel. Let this rest for at least 15 minutes.
Now, the final step – roll out the dough. Brush with oil, butter or ghee and cook in a cast iron pan. To make this flatbread healthier, you can use wholemeal flour.
