Christmas star cookies. Cute, sweet and festive, these downright chic star cookies are a must addition to this holiday season. These smooth and delicious cookies have an irresistible melt-in-your-mouth texture. Take them up a notch with a dip in white chocolate and festive sprinkles.
This year, celebrating Christmas at home is going to be an unique experience. As a result, I’m thinking of ways to make it feel extra special and more festive. Even though this holiday season will certainly look different, baking Christmas cookies is an inevitable tradition.
How to Make Christmas Star Cookies
Start with combining together self raising flour, plain flour and a pinch of salt in a large bowl. Set this aside.
To make the star cookies dough, beat softened butter and sugar until the mixture is very pale and creamy. Make sure the sugar is beaten into the cookie butter giving it a super smooth texture. A touch of pure vanilla extract and the addition of one egg is the next step in making the cookies. Beat until they are just combined.
At this stage, you can add in the flours. I like to add them in two different stages so the mixture will come together easily and quickly. Turn the mixture onto floured surface and knead until smooth. If the mixture is too sticky and too soft to knead into smooth dough, sprinkle with a couple of tablespoons of flour, and knead again.
Now, divide this dough for star cookies into two equal parts. Use a lightly floured rolling pin to roll them out into 3mm thick discs. I like the idea of rolling them out straight onto a baking paper. You’ll need to refrigerate this dough for at least 1-2 hours. Cut out star cookies and bake for about 10-12 minutes.
Once the star cookies are cooled, you can decorate them any way you like. I like to dip them in melted white chocolate and adorn with plenty of festive sprinkles.
Super cute cookies to add to your cookie box!
