Ingredients

  • 1 large ripe banana
  • ¾ cup whole wheat flour atta
  • 1 tablespoon sugar
  • ¼ teaspoon ground cardamom
  • ¼ teaspoon bicarb soda
  • Oil for deep frying
  • Water

Instructions

  • Peel and mash banana. Place it in a large bowl along with flour, sugar, ground cardamom and bicarb soda. Add water ( I used ¼ cup water) little by little to make a very sticky dough.
  • Meanwhile heat oil for deep frying in a deep pan over medium-high heat.
  • Apply a little oil to the palm of your hand. Make a ball with the dough. When the oil is hot enough, slide it into the oil. Fry, turning occasionally , until golden brown. Repeat until dough is used up.
  • Drain them on an absorbent towel.
  • Serve hot bondas with tea or coffee.

Notes

Traditional bondas are made with plain flour or all-purpose flour. However, you can use wholemeal plain flour or whole wheat flour in the recipe
If the banana is not sweet enough, add more sugar
