The Perfect Ham And Cheese Sandwich

The perfect sandwich layers consisting of mayo, dijon mustard, Swiss cheese and plenty of ham make this easy to make sandwich so scrumptious!

Ingredients

  • 2 large sourdough bread or your favorite bread, cut in halves
  • 4 tablespoons mayonnaise
  • 2 teaspoons dijon mustard
  • 6 Swiss cheese slices
  • 6 ham slices
  • 2 dill pickles thinly sliced (optional)
  • 2 tablespoons butter to grill

Instructions

  • Spread one side of each slice of bread with mayonnaise.
  • Spread one side of 2 of the 4 slices with dijon mustard.
  • Top the mayonnaise bread with cheese, ham, and pickles (if using).
  • Top with the remaining slices of bread.
  • Heat a large frying pan over medium heat.
  • Add butter.
  • When melted, add sandwiches and cook until bread is golden and cheese is melted, for about 3 minutes per side.

Notes

  • Bread - Use your favorite.
  • Cheese - Swiss, gruyere or cheddar.
  • Ham - I used leftover roast ham, but good quality deli style ham is also a perfect addition.
