Tempura Dipping Sauce

Servings 3 /4 cup sauce

Ingredients

  • ¾ cup dashi Japanese soup base sauce
  • 1 tablespoon soy sauce
  • 1 tablespoon mirin or sake I used mirin
  • ½ teaspoon salt

Instructions

  • Add dashi, soy sauce, mirin or sake and salt to a small saucepan.
  • Stir to combine.
  • Place the pot over medium heat.
  • Allow the mixture to come to a boil.
  • Simmer for one minute or until the alcohol smell disappears.
  • Serve hot.
  • Store in an airtight container in the refrigerator for a week.

Notes

  • For gluten free alternative of soy sauce, use tamari
  • If using sake, add a pinch of sugar
  • You can add condiments like grated ginger or daikon
