Ingredients

  • 1 tablespoon oil
  • ½ teaspoon cumin seeds
  • 2 garlic cloves sliced
  • 2 cups green beans ends trimmed
  • ½ teaspoon ground turmeric turmeric powder
  • ½ teaspoon red chili flakes optional
  • Salt to taste
  • 2 tablespoon water
  • Curry leaves
  • Steamed rice to serve

Instructions

  • Heat oil in a frying pan over medium-high heat. Add cumin seeds. Allow to splutter. Add garlic cloves. Sauté, stirring occasionally, for 1 minute or until aromatic.
  • Add green beans, ground turmeric and red chili flakes (optional). Season with salt. Stir to combine. Add water. Cook, covered, stirring occasionally, for 3-4 minutes or until crisp tender. Garnish with curry leaves.

- Substitute green beans with mushrooms, broccolini, asparagus or snow peas if you like
