Ingredients

Pizza sauce:

  • 8 tablespoons store bought or homemade pizza sauce

Homemade pizza sauce:

  • 8 tablespoons tomato passata
  • 2 garlic cloves minced
  • 1 teaspoon Italian seasoning

Christmas tree pizza:

  • 4 puff pastry sheets thawed (I used ready rolled sheets)
  • 4 tablespoons finely chopped bell peppers capsicum
  • 4 tablespoons grated mozzarella
  • 1 egg lightly whisked

Instructions

Pizza sauce:

  • Use store bought or homemade pizza sauce.
  • To make homemade pizza sauce, combine together tomato passata, minced garlic and Italian seasoning in a small bowl. Set aside.

Christmas tree pizza:

  • Preheat oven to 180C or 350 F. Line two baking trays with parchment (baking) paper.
  • Place one puff pastry on the baking sheet.
  • Spread with 4 tablespoons pizza sauce. Top with 2 tablespoons bell peppers (capsicum) and 2 tablespoons mozzarella.
  • Top with another puff pastry sheet.
  • Cut into the shape of a Christmas tree. Make horizontal tree branch slices. Twist the tree branches.
  • Using star-shaped cookie cutter, make a star from the leftover pastry and set on top of the tree.
  • Brush whisked egg along the tree trunk, base and branches.
  • Repeat with the remaining two puff pastry sheets.
  • Transfer the trees to the oven. Bake for 20-25 minutes or until crispy and golden.
