Servings 25 naans

Ingredients

  • 4 cups all purpose (plain) flour
  • ½ cup yogurt
  • 2 tablespoons melted butter
  • 2 teaspoons dried yeast
  • ¾ cup lukewarm milk
  • ¾ teaspoon salt
  • 50 g melted butter, to brush cooked naan

Instructions

  • Place flour, yogurt, butter, yeast, milk and salt in a large bowl.
  • Using a spoon, combine the ingredients, then use clean hands to bring everything together and form a sticky dough.
  • Cover and place in a warm spot for about 1 hour or until doubled in size.
  • Dust a clean work surface with flour, and tip out the dough.
  • Knead for two minutes.
  • Divide the dough into 4 equal portions.
  • Place one portion on a flat work surface, and roll out into a thin disc, roughly 3mm thick.
  • Using a round cookie cutter, cut out circles. Shape the circles into oval shaped naans.
  • Remove the extra dough, and roll it again into 3mm thick discs. Cut out more circles from the dough.
  • Repeat the process to make about 20-25 circles.
  • Meanwhile heat a grill pan over medium heat.
  • Place naans in the pan, in batches, and cook for about 3-4 minutes or until cooked through.
  • Serve with your favorite dip.
