Ingredients

  • 1 stalk spring onions scallions, chopped
  • 1 sprig coriander cilantro leaves, chopped
  • 1 garlic clove peeled and minced
  • 1 tablespoon soy sauce
  • 1 tablespoon rice vinegar
  • 1 teaspoon dried red chili flakes red pepper flakes (Korean red chili flakes preferred)
  • 3 tablespoons oil
  • 1 teaspoon five spice powder
  • 200 g your favorite cooked noodles I used udon
  • Sliced cucumbers to garnish (optional)
  • Fried egg to garnish (optional)
  • Sesame seeds to garnish (optional)

Instructions

  • Place spring onions (scallions), coriander (cilantro) leaves, garlic, chili flakes, soy sauce and rice vinegar in a bowl. Set aside.
  • Heat oil in a small frying pan over high heat.
  • When the oil is smoking hot, add five spice powder and pour into the bowl with the other ingredients immediately. (Make sure you don’t burn the spices)
  • Add cooked noodles. Toss. Serve.
  • Top with sliced cucumbers, fried egg and sesame seeds.
