Cook pasta according to the package instructions. Boil water in a large pot. Season with salt. Add pasta. Cook for about 7-8 minutes or until al dente. Drain. Set aside.
Meanwhile, heat butter and oil in a large frying pan over
medium-high heat. Add onions. Saute, stirring occasionally, for about 2-3 minutes or until soft and translucent.
Add garlic. Saute, stirring, for 1 minute or until fragrant.
Add tomato paste. Saute, stirring, for about 2 minutes.
Add canned tomatoes. Stir to combine. Stir continuously and add cream. Stir in Italian seasoning.
Season with salt and pepper. Add 1 cup pasta water. Simmer for about 3 minutes.
Add cooked pasta, parmesan and parsley or basil. Stir. Heat through.
Garnish with grated parmesan and and parsley.
