Ingredients

  • 350 g your favorite pasta I used spirals
  • 1 tablespoon butter
  • 2 teaspoons olive oil
  • 1 cup chopped onions
  • 1 garlic clove peeled and minced
  • 2 tablespoons tomato paste
  • 1 can 400g crushed tomatoes
  • ½ cup heavy fresh cream thickened cream
  • 1 teaspoon Italian seasoning
  • 1 cup grated parmesan
  • ¼ cup chopped parsley or basil
  • Grated parmesan to garnish
  • Chopped parsley to garnish

Instructions

  • Cook pasta according to the package instructions. Boil water in a large pot. Season with salt. Add pasta. Cook for about 7-8 minutes or until al dente. Drain. Set aside.
  • Meanwhile, heat butter and oil in a large frying pan over
    medium-high heat. Add onions. Saute, stirring occasionally, for about 2-3 minutes or until soft and translucent.
  • Add garlic. Saute, stirring, for 1 minute or until fragrant.
  • Add tomato paste. Saute, stirring, for about 2 minutes.
  • Add canned tomatoes. Stir to combine. Stir continuously and add cream. Stir in Italian seasoning.
  • Season with salt and pepper. Add 1 cup pasta water. Simmer for about 3 minutes.
  • Add cooked pasta, parmesan and parsley or basil. Stir. Heat through.
  • Garnish with grated parmesan and and parsley.

  • You can add roast veggies, shredded chicken or even fried shrimp (prawn) to this recipe
