Spaghetti And Meatballs Recipe
First, cook spaghetti – regular or gluten free. Make sure you follow the package instructions to cook them perfectly. Drain and set aside. You can also reserve some pasta water to add to the sauce if required.
The meatballs make a statement in this recipe. Minced meat combined with garlic, herbs and egg is rolled into lemon sized balls. The breadcrumbs act as a binding agent, just choose regular or gluten free. You can cook the meatballs two ways – fried or baked. Even though ‘fried’ is the traditional way to go, I prefer to bake them.
While meatballs are cooking in the oven, you can make the vibrant tomato based sauce of this spaghetti and meatballs recipe. Start with sautéing a little garlic in olive oil and then onions until soft. Stir in bay leaf and tomato passata. If the sauce is too thick, add a little reserved pasta water. Simmer for about 3-4 minutes.
The cooked meatballs go into the sauce. Simmer for 3-4 minutes. And done!
