Well, to be honest, there’s one more reason why I made these cookies. Yes, you know that. Valentine’s Day is just around the corner. So, how about these super cute, heart shaped palmier cookies for V-Day treat?
These cookies are kind of last minute treats. With only 3 ingredients, these are super easy to make. Puff pastry, sugar and cinnamon. These are the simplest yet delicious cookies you could ever make. When I say ‘simple’, I mean the kind of recipe you can make with your kids. Or even with your loved one. All in all, these palmier cookies are guaranteed to please everyone.
So, here’s the basic idea. We’re going to sprinkle the pastry sheet with lots of sugar, and then fold it in a very fancy manner. We’ll then cut the pastry into small heart shapes. Finally, bake in the oven to create cute and little heart cookies.
With the pastry sheet, both store-bought and homemade puff pastry works just fine in this recipe. Remember to thaw the pastry before you can use it.
Sprinkle the pastry sheet generously with sugar -cinnamon mixture. Roll out the pastry with a rolling pin to ensure most of the sugar crystals stick to the pastry.
Next up, folding. The pastry is folded five times to create six layers of buttery sweet pastry. Before you cut the pastry into small hearts, cover it in a plastic wrap, and allow to chill for an hour. This will ensure clean and smooth cutting of the pastry.
