Wonton cups. The classic wonton wrappers get a crispy upgrade making them the perfect way to serve sweet and savory canapes. A popular party appetizer idea, these creative cups are going to take your gatherings to the next level. Watch the video tutorial here.
Do you love canapes? I do. They are a super simple way to make your appetizers more creative. While the idea is to serve bite sized appetizers that bring together flavorful elements, think about serving them in edible cups. And yes, tartlet shells are a great idea.
But how about upgrading them to crispy wonton cups? Isn’t it a super cute idea? It certainly adds a nice contrast to the soft texture of the fillings. To be very honest, I love these edible cups.
The best part? You can make these a day ahead. Store them in an airtight container and they’ll keep fresh and super crunchy for about 24-72 hours.
How To Make Wonton Cups
The method is pretty straightforward. All you need are a couple of ingredients- wonton wrappers and cooking spray. Thaw the wrappers before you turn them into beautiful crispy cups.
First, spray two or three muffin tins with cooking spray. Place the wrappers in the holes carefully. Make sure you don’t tear the wrapper. Spray again with cooking spray.
Transfer the muffin tins to the oven. The wonton cups turn crispy and brown within 7-8 minutes, so make sure you keep an eye on them. As the cups bake in the oven, you can see small bubbles appearing on the cups eventually turning golden brown.
When they come out of the oven, leave to cool in the muffin tins for a minute before transferring them onto a wire rack to cool completely.
Fill these super crisp wonton cups with your favorite fillings to make stunning bite sized appetizers.
